How to Prepare Your Property for Power Washing

Prepare for Power Washing by confirming the agreed surfaces, making the work area accessible and sharing anything that could affect the visit. You do not need to choose a pressure setting or clean the surfaces first. The estimate establishes the proposed work and the material-specific approach. Your preparation helps make that agreed scope accessible when the appointment arrives.

1. Review exactly which areas are included

Read through the job-specific estimate before preparing the property. Identify the driveway, walkway, patio, deck, fence, siding or other exterior areas included. If the description leaves you unsure about a back entrance, side wall or section behind furniture, clarify it before the visit.

Do not assume nearby items are part of the same job. Cleaning siding does not automatically include windows, and cleaning a patio does not automatically include every adjoining surface. If you want to add something, raise it before work begins so any change to scope and price can be agreed in writing.

2. Share changes and sensitive areas

Tell PrinMaxx Services about loose boards or siding, peeling finishes, existing cracks, fragile decorations and known water-entry points. Mention recently painted, stained or sealed surfaces and any product instructions you have.

If something changes after the estimate, send an update before the appointment. A newly installed gate, fresh coating or damaged section may change access or the proposed approach. Optional photos from ground level can help locate the issue; you do not need to climb for a better view.

Useful notes are straightforward: “The lower fence board is loose,” “The patio was sealed recently,” or “The side gate opens inward and is partly blocked.” You do not have to determine the repair or cleaning method yourself.

3. Move what you can reasonably move

Clear the agreed work area and the route needed to reach it:

• Move vehicles away from the surfaces being cleaned and the planned access route.
• Relocate lightweight furniture, outdoor décor, toys and movable planters when reasonably possible.
• Remove or secure fragile and personal items near the work area.
• Close exterior doors and windows.
• Identify fixed, heavy or fragile objects that will remain in place.

Choose a temporary spot that will not block another agreed work area. Moving patio chairs into the narrow side passage may simply relocate the access problem. Keep an entrance available for normal household needs without routing people through the work zone.

If an object cannot be moved safely, leave it and explain the restriction in advance. Do not strain to move a large planter, dismantle a structure or assume the crew will relocate heavy furniture. The obstacle needs to be considered as part of the job.

4. Arrange gates and shared access

Unlock required gates or areas according to the arrangement made for the visit. Mention gates that stick, narrow passages, slopes, soft ground and any section that must remain closed. If access passes through a shared area, coordinate it with the person responsible for that area beforehand.

5. Make a plan for pets and people

Secure pets away from the work area before arrival and keep them separated from workers, equipment and materials throughout service. Let household members know which entrance or outdoor area will be unavailable while work is active.

Children, guests, tenants and other nonworking occupants also need to remain outside the active work area. Plan ordinary needs, such as taking a dog outside, so nobody has to walk through the setup. If a pet or occupant creates a safety or access risk, work may pause or be rescheduled.

6. Follow the agreed utility arrangement

Customer-supplied water or electricity is required only when it is identified in the job-specific estimate before authorization. If an agreed utility is needed, provide safe, working access to it. If it is unavailable or has stopped working, tell PrinMaxx Services before the appointment.

Do not improvise a connection or assume every Power Washing job has the same utility needs. Follow the arrangement confirmed for your property; unsuitable or unavailable agreed access may mean postponing the work.

7. Recheck conditions before the visit

Review the appointment confirmation and make sure the agreed access remains available. Rain, lightning, wind, temperature or resulting site conditions may make the work unsafe or unsuitable. PrinMaxx Services will contact you to arrange a new date or time when weather requires a change.

Do I need to be home during Power Washing?

You do not need to remain present for exterior-only Power Washing when the scope and property access have been arranged in advance. Confirm those arrangements, including gates and any agreed utilities, before leaving.
